NCSSM Residential Campuses (the overview)

NCSSM Campuses Choice HEY GUYS!!! It's been some time, (like a year 😖), but I'm ready to get back to blogging. You might not realize it, but campus choices are a pivotal factor  in your NCSSM journey, even if they aren't directly related to your admissions process. It's been some time since I last posted, and a lot of that has had to do with me focusing on high school admissions. I put in a lot of effort choosing where I'll spend the next 4 years (or maybe just 2 :) you never know), perhaps even a bit more than necessary. But, I'm firing back up my NCSSM brain, and I want to get back to this blog and you guys.   For that matter, let's jump in. Oh, and to be clear, this post is gonna be on the 11th-12th grade residential programs, which means I won't be getting into the summer or the online program . NCSSM has 2 residential campuses, in both  Morganton  and Durham .  NCSSM also has an online program, where students remain enrolled in their local school ...

More ADVICE! Essays + Why NCSSM

More Advice! Essays: OK, Essays! We'll jump right in. This year's essay prompts can found here . From talk I've garnered from Youtube videos (there are a few good, though dated, Youtube seminars out there.) the general say is not make your essays anything like your resume. Current students and alumni agree on the fact that admission officers already have your EC's. They say that your essays should reflect you; they should let the reader get know you and a deep reason on why you  should go to NCSSM. For me, my focus for the first essay question category, would be on my interest in mathematics, computer science and biotechnology. I'm leaning toward answering the one which asks, "Describe a STEM topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more?". This is because I'm not exactly sure I'd like research anything, but I want to be able to ...

MIGRATION... OR NOT

MIGRATION... OR NOT OK, I'll admit Blogger isn't the most advanced blogging website. Which is why I wanted to move. Unfortunately, Blogger may not have all the features, but it is the simplest. For a self-declared techie this was heartbreaking. However I don't have the required amount time to devote this project to allow more advanced tools 😭 like Wix/Wordpress. Oh, and a lack of money, for their premium plans... Anyway, I'm sticking with this for now!

A Few Tips and Tricks + NCSSM Overview

Useful Info (Pretty Important) NCSSM: Well, I thought we'd start off with a general overview of what NCSSM is and why you'd wanna go there. I know this is basic, but I’m gonna include some useful tidbits. OK, let's start off with some admissions info. (You've probably come over this info before but I'm including this for completeness, for more info go here , or here . I'm still a little confused over some parts, so take this with a grain of salt.) OK, basically you apply in your 10th grade and attend in 11th and 12th. Oh, I should probably mention that this blog focuses on the residential program, not the online one. You apply through CFNC, and you can find essay prompts for class of 2027 (they might update), here and for help on the application go here . Oh, and there is a math exam. It's like, Prealgebra and Algebra 1, or 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math. You should be good if you paid attention in math those years 😜. This is a look at the math exam. Useful...

First Post - Why I'm doing this...

First Post, and why I'm doing this... Hiya! This is my first post, and I wanted to tell y'all why I'm doing this. Well... My first reason is sorta that I need a place to keep a record of my journey to get into NCSSM, even if I don't get in. When I went looking for blogs to help me with the admissions process, I didn't find many. I want to create blog to help others with this. Ok, some fair warnings first, their probably is going to be a good period of time between each post. I'm a 7th grader in Wake County, (pretty competitive, many of my friends just scoffed when they learned I was gonna apply.) and next post I'm putting in some of academic details, and some of the tips I've picked up on Reddit.
