A Few Tips and Tricks + NCSSM Overview

 Useful Info (Pretty Important)

NCSSM:

Well, I thought we'd start off with a general overview of what NCSSM is and why you'd wanna go there. I know this is basic, but I’m gonna include some useful tidbits. OK, let's start off with some admissions info. (You've probably come over this info before but I'm including this for completeness, for more info go here, or here. I'm still a little confused over some parts, so take this with a grain of salt.) OK, basically you apply in your 10th grade and attend in 11th and 12th. Oh, I should probably mention that this blog focuses on the residential program, not the online one. You apply through CFNC, and you can find essay prompts for class of 2027 (they might update), here and for help on the application go here. Oh, and there is a math exam. It's like, Prealgebra and Algebra 1, or 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math. You should be good if you paid attention in math those years 😜. This is a look at the math exam.

Useful Resources:

Next, we'll talk about some resources for this arduous journey. All the links I provided above are great (there from the NCSSM admissions website) resource. In addition, I'd like to introduce you to the NCSSM subreddit. I never used Reddit before this, (OK, I'd heard a ton of inappropriate things about it 😋 ) however this subreddit is really on topic with tons of useful links and advice. You can literally ask for advice there, and chances are an admitted sophomore or alumni will respond, (I asked). One guy even posted his essays for others to look at (don't plagiarize), here. The Reddit and Quora (Yes, Quora 😏) NCSSM pages are great!
